Overview of Ocean Divine
Built in 2006, Ocean Divine was a labour of love for French owner-operator David Mesnard, who has lived in the Maldives since 1990 and guides aboard Ocean Divine on most safaris. Through the design and build process David brought a divers' perspective and added Ocean Divine's personnel touches like photographs of his father with Jacques Cousteau. To complete the picture a professional crew provide a high level of service and attention to detail in a friendly relaxed manner. Ocean Divine is one of those liveaboards that manages to effortlessly combine comfort, great service with that personnel touch.
Accommodation aboard Ocean Divine
Despite her size Ocean Divine accommodates only fourteen divers in seven individually climate controlled cabins.
Each of Ocean Divine's cabins has a queen size bed and a single bed, well appointed en-suite facilities and a plasma screen and DVD player.
The Saloon design has a Balinese influence with mahogany deck and comfortable seating.
There is another plasma screen for a more social viewing of the days' dive adventures or DVD. There is also a fully stocked bar. On the aft deck is the dining area. Above this the Sunset Lounge, where during the day you can catch some sun or join the skipper at the flying bridge.
Included in the crew of Ocean Divine is a masseuse who offers a menu of treatments to relax away those stresses and strains (additional charge, paid locally)
Drink & Dine
David and his team on Ocean Divine pride themselves on the quality and variety of dishes they serve onboard. Every meal aboard Ocean Divine is freshly prepared by her first class chefs, with Southern Asian delicacies, like Massouni, and international dishes. Your breakfast includes omelettes and eggs cooked to your liking, fresh fruits and bakery. Lunches include local fresh fish, sashimi and a variety of other fresh chef prepared meals and desserts. Dinner is served at 7.30 the menu changing every evening for your enjoyment. Ocean Divine's Executive Chef Maheesh and his assistant offer you an explanation of the dishes they have prepared that day. Snacks and juices await on the stern deck when you return from diving. Water and soft drinks are complimentary.
Do note that the Maldives is a remote destination and all food is imported. If you have a favorite snack feel free to bring it with you as availability may be limited locally. For any special dietary requests, such as vegetarian meals, please inform us at time of booking and mention it to the crew on boarding Ocean Divine.
Each afternoon you can enjoy ice cold beers or a range of freshly prepared cocktails. It is not permitted to take duty free into the Maldives. Beer, wine and spirits, along with carbonated mixers, are charged for onboard. Your dive guides will not allow you to dive after consuming alcohol or while still under its influence as alcohol impairs judgment and increases your risk of decompression sickness.
